In July 2009, the 3rd Battalion, 4th Aviation Regiment deployed from fort Hood, Texas, to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Upon completion of the deployment, the unit rejoined the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado.
