The Air Expeditionary Force is the US Air Force's concept of responding to the increasing number of contingencies that call for worldwide deployments. Except for major surge operations, active and reserve Air Force units will either be on call or deployed for 120 days every 20 months. Each unit will know its 120-day vulnerability period months in advance making it easier to coordinate future individual and family plans.
