Ed Note: Battlefield Coordination Detachments are small groups of soldiers, mostly field grade officers and senior enlisted personnel who synchronize air and ground operations within a battlefield area. They process requests for preplanned and immediate tactical air support, monitor and interpret the land battle situation in the area of conflict and provide interface and exchange of intelligence, operational and airlift data.
