SGT James Crawford provided the following information during a stopover at Bangor International Airport in late May 2014 while he was enroute to an overseas deployment:

"The Centurion Coin was created back in May of 2008 by CPT Hurley (now MAJ Hurley) at the Ranger Battalion in Fort Benning Georgia. It was awarded for completion of a 25-mile road march in 10 hours."
