Headquarters Command, referred to locally as the Dragon Brigade, is responsible for establishing the XVIII Airborne Corps Rear Command Post, and commanding and controlling units and reservists attached to support the Corps Rear Area of Operations.

Brigade units include the Special Troops Bn which includes Headquarters and Headquarters Co., XVIII Airborne Corps; and Headquarters Co., United States Army Garrison; 83rd Chemical Bn which includes: Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 101st Chemical Co.; 1112th Signal Bn; 1st Battle Coordination Detachment; 18th Weather Squadron; 18th Explosive Ordnance Detachment; 22nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment; 1st Chemical Detachment; Advance Airborne School; XVIII Airborne Corps Noncommissioned Officers Academy; and Ground Intelligence Support Activity.

The mission of the Dragon Brigade is to provide command and control for designated units; establish the corps rear command post; plan and execute rear operations in joint and combined environments; and be prepared to act as the corps' alternate main command post.
