On 16 April 2008, the 593rd Support Group (Corps) was reorganized and redesignated as the 593rd Sustainment Brigade. The mission of the 593rd Sustainment Brigade is to, on order, deploy worldwide to provide command, control, staff planning and supervision of three to seven subordinate battalions and provides direct support/general support sustainment to all units on an area basis. The Brigade provides sustainment support to I Corps and Joint Base Lewis-McChord tenant units and additionally provide maintenance support to the western region.
