The 2nd Battalion, 122 Field Artillery, is assigned to the 33d Infantry Brigade, 35th Infantry Division. Formerly the 66th Infantry Bridgae, the the 33d Infantry Bridgage was reorganized and redesignated in 2005 as part of the Atmy's transformation towards a modular force.
The 2nd Battalion is the direct support artillery battalion for the 33d Infantry Brigade of the 35th Infantry Division, with batteries in Chicago, Crestwood and Sycamore, Illinois. The 33d Infantry Brigade is one of the maneuver brigades of the 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized), headquartered at Fort Leavenworth, KS. The 33d Infantry Brigade, with a total personnel strength of approximately 3,500 soldiers, has units located throughout Illinois.
Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 122nd Field Artillery, took part in the Northern Viking 2001 deployment to Iceland.
