3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division

3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division "Bulldogs" The 3rd Brigade Combat Team deploys with or without equipment, builds combat power, conducts military operations in support of the 1AD or other headquarters and redeploys.

The brigade deployed to Southwest Asia in December 1990 to participate in Operation Desert Shield. As the right flank of the 1st Armored Division wedge, and often times operating independently, the brigade fought four major battles against Iraqi forces during the ground campaign of Operation Desert Storm.

The brigade deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from Feb 2003 through Apr 2004. While serving under the control of the 3rd Infantry Division, the Brigade was the first 1st Armored Division BCT to close on Baghdad. The brigade again deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in January 2005 through Feb 2006.

Shortly after redeploying from Iraq the brigade was remissioned, transforming into a training entity and helped train deploying Military Training Teams (MiTTs) from across the Army. In Apr 2007 it was converted to the Army's newest modular Heavy Brigade Combat Team concept.
