Journal - Page 80 - Line 14 Documentation provided with this coin states, "This coin denotes the multiple combat depoyments the 138th Fighter Wing has participated in the US Air Force-Europe and USAF Central Command areas of responsibility. Operations include, Operation Provide Comfort, Operation Northern Watch, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. "The 138th FW (125th Fighter Squadron) while deployed to Operation Southern Watch (Aug-Sep, 2001) at Al Jabar Airbase, Kuwait was one of the first USAF fignter units to be on station and performed combat flights into enemy territory during the 9-11 attacks on America. Ten Years later, the 138th FW (125th FS) was the last fighter squadron out of Iraq flying combat missions (over 700 hours). Missions included performing combat air power (cover fire) for US forcs that were convoying out of Iraq going to Kuwait and 'on demand' fire power on special missions as directed. "This coin commemorates the successful accomplishments of this unit, whose maxim is, 'Strength & Honor.'
