The 407th Air Expeditionary Group was a provisional US Air Force unit stationed at Tallil Air Base. Its mission was to command elements to provide air stabilization for southern Iraq, tactical airlift support for the region, and aerial port operations for Tallil Air Base. Smaller subordinate units assigned to the air base included troops from Great Britain, France, Australia and other allied countries.
