The 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment was deployed to Iraq in October 2006 and was one of the very last to leave. As they crossed the border into Kuwait, the 8.5 year long war in Iraq ended. They departed to Fort Hood on 18 December 2007.

The unit deployed during the summer of 2013 to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt as part of the Multinational Force and Observers peacekeeping force.
