Round shaped coin, brass in color, 1 3/4 inches in diameter

SIDE 1 -

SIDE 2- The design incorporates the insignia of the 1st Marine Division to which it belongs: a blue diamond with a vertical axis, outlined in white with the Southern Cross constellation and the red numeral "1" in the center. The 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines insignia adds in front, the Marine Corps eagle, globe, and anchor and a laurel wreath within the diamond, surrounded by a red ring outlined in gold cord on which is printed, "READY FOR ALL. YIELDING TO NONE" above, and "2D BATTALION. 7TH MARINES" below, with a bayonet piercing the design, point to southwest. The coin adds a wide black ring with a narrow gold border on which is printed, "FOR EXCELLENCE" above, a silver oak leaf at 7 O'clock and a Sergeant Major insignia of rank at 5 o'clock.

The 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines (2/7) is a light infantry battalion of the United States Marine Corps. They are based at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms and consist of approximately 800 Marines and Sailors. The battalion falls under the command of the 7th Marine Regiment and the 1st Marine Division.

2nd Battalion, 7th Marines was part of a Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force during its 2013-14 deployment.
