Rectanguler coin with long axis horizontal and short ends arched, pewter in color, 1 3/4 inches high & 2 inches wide.

SIDE 1 - A pewter colored eagle in flight facing forward with white detail on a black background, "3D MCDS OCP (FWD)" printed above, "CEF 2014" below, a US Army Central insignia left, and a 3rd Medical Command insignia right; a white ball in an orbit which follows the outside shape of the coin; in turn surrounded by a wide black band with "COMMANDERS AWARD" printed above, "FOR EXCELLENCE" below, and "OEF" left; all surrounded by a pewter colored rope border.

The 3rd Medical Command (Deployment Support) (MCDS) or "Desert Medics" is headquartered in Atlanta, GA and manages all the Army Reserve deployable field medical units east of Ohio. Units of the 3rd MCDS provide general, surgical, dental, ambulance, behavioral health, preventive maintenance, and veterinary support to Army units and to civilian populations.
