The "RAM" in C-RAM stands for rocket, artillery and missile defense.

C-RAM Program Mission: Responsible for the overall life cycle management of automated Air and Missile Defense command and control systems, force protection systems-of-systems, and counterfires/counter target acquisition radars. C-RAM programs include Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control; Air and Missile Defense Planning and Control System; Rocket, Artillery, Mortar (RAM) Warn; C-RAM Intercept (Land-based Phalanx Weapon System; and Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar.
