Round shaped coin, antique brass in color, 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
SIDE 1 - A round disk bearing a plane in flight and a crossed saber and lightning flash being impacted by anti-aircraft fire; below the plane, the letters "IV" (for 4th Battalion); all surrounded by a narrow band, below which is a ribbon banner with the unit name, "4TH LAAD BN"; all further surrounded by a rope border.
SIDE 2 - The eagle, globe and anchor of the US Maine Corps surrounded by a wide band with the words, "UNITED STATES" above and, "MARINE CORPS" below; all within a rope border.
4th Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion (4th LAAD)
4th Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion (4th LAAD) was a reserve air defense unit of the United States Marine Corps. They were part of Marine Air Control Group 48 (MACG-48) and the 4th Marine Aircraft Wing (4th MAW) and were based in Pasadena, California.
The unit was active from October 1972 to March 2005.
