The mission of the 348th General Hospital is to establish a 476-bed hospital in a communications zone army area of operations, provide stabilization and specialized care for general classes of patients; and serve as the primary conduit for patient evacuation to the continental United States. On 11 January 2024, the 348th accepted responsibility for providing hospital services for Central Command operations at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.
