From a US Navy Press Release:
"SAN DIEGO -- In ceremonies held at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Sept. 17,[2003], the Branch Medical Clinic [at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot] was named Johnson Hall, after Hospital Corpsmen 2nd Class (FMF) Michael Vann Johnson Jr., who died during Operation Iraqi Freedom. For his ultimate sacrifice, Johnson was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and promoted to Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class. A painting and pictures of him are on display inside the clinic as reminders of Johnson's adherence to the Hospital Corpsman's Pledge that reads in part, "I dedicate my heart, mind and strength to the work before me. I shall do all within my power to show in myself an example of all that is honorable and good."
