In 2005 the 142nd Corps Support Battalion was deployed to Iraq, supporting the 3rd Corps Support Command and 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. After returning from that deployment, it became part of the transformation of the US Army to the modular force structure. Previously an element assigned to the Joint Readiness Training center at Fort Polk, Louisiana, the 142nd Corps Suport Battalion was reorganized and redignated as the 142nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion and reassigned to the 15th Sustainment Brigade. As a result, it moved brom fort Polk to Fort Hood Texas.
