A/228th is a supply company in a Forward Support Battalion (FSB) of a Heavy Infantry Division (Mechanized). Alpha Company supports the 55th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (BCT) through supply and Class I (Ration) operations, Class III (Refueling) operations, and Class V (Ammunition) operations. Specifically, the company receives, stores, and issues rations, individual clothing and organizational equipment, petroleum, oil and lubricants, construction materials, ammunition, vehicles, and weapons. Alpha Company is also responsible for operating an Ammunition Transfer Point (ATP) and a salvage point on the battlefield. In addition to these Combat Service Support (CSS) missions, Alpha Company also performs State missions including disaster relief, as directed by the Governor.
