Unit is one of the Marine Corps Special Forces Units. The skull seen on the knife was initially used after the formation of the unit but was subsequently replaced by an eagle after the Marine Corps decided the skull was not the image they wanted to portray. The unit still exists, but all designs used now portray the eagle instead of the skull.
