SIDE 1 - US Army Major gold oak leaf insignia of rank on the left, Sergeant Major insignia of rank on the right from which insues the black silhouette of a cobra; surrounding all that and following the curviture of the coin, the words, "TEAM SNAKE" above and. "0111 MILITARY TRANSITION TEAM" below.
SIDE 2 - US 3rd Infantry Division patch on a US Flag background on the left, an Iraqi Infantry unit patch on an Iraqi Flag background on the right; the words, "OIF V, 07-08" bridging the two flags below the patches; and following the outside curviture of the coin, the words, "TEAM SNAKE" above and, 1ST BATTALION 1ST BRIGADE 1ST IRAQI DIVISION" below.
A Military Transition Team, or Transition Team, is a 10 to 15 soldier team that trains local forces. The term has been used in the context of the "War on Terror" to design groups training in particular the Iraqi Security Forces.
